NATIONAL SEMINAR ON STRATEGIES FOR SUSTAINABLE COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE IN A GLOBALIZED ERA (SUSPIRE - 2010)
Sustainable competitive advantage (SCA) has been a strategic concern to enterprises. In the era of knowledge economy, such an advantage migrates to the human-brain oriented intangible assets or intellectual property right (IPR). Combined with strategy, this brings up the importance of multi-disciplinary integration and business renovation in management infrastructure for the sake of SCA. SCA allows the maintenance and improvement of the enterprise's competitive position in the market. It is an advantage that enables business to survive against its competition over a long period of time. It thus has become a buzz word in today's business environment. Therefore, we are witnessing organizations of all sizes adopting various policies, practices, strategies, and perspectives in the drive to achieve sustainable competitive advantage rather than just growth. This seminar focused on paper presentations on the contemporary issues in management. The seminar brought academicians, researchers and practicing managers to come together and provide exposure to new endeavors and horizons made in meeting management challenges. The seminar was also used by students to present their views and ideas in form of paper presentations
The seminar was inaugurated by Prof. Nageshwar Rao, Vice-Chancellor, Rajarshi Tondon Open University, Allahabad. About 100 research papers were presented in three technical sessions viz., Human Resource Management, MarketingManagement and Financial Management. The session on Human Resource Management was chaired by Prof. S.K. Sharma, Deptt. of Management, Dayalbagh Educational Institute, Agra and Key Note speaker was Prof. Monika Prakash, Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (IITTM), Gwalior. Technical session on finance was chaired by Prof. Manas Pandy, Head, Deptt. of Business Economics, VBS Purvanchal University, Jaunpur and Key Note speaker was Prof. Hitesh Shukla, Saurastra University, Rajkot. Technical session on Marketing was chaired by Prof. Nimit Chaudhary, Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (IITTM), Gwalior and key note speaker was Prof. H.C. Purohit, Deptt. of Business Economics, VBS Purvanchal University, Jaunpur. First issue of International Journal of Management and Cross Cultural Research was also released on the occasion. Overall, the seminar proved to be a platform high level of intellectual interaction, research sharing and idea generation.
